I am a freelance journalist, academic and translator based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I specialise in Northern Europe and the environment, covering anything from the North Atlantic to the Baltic. I write regularly about Scandinavian politics and have written a PhD on the communication of the environment in public life in Sweden.
I have previously worked as an agency journalist in Berlin for Associated Reporters Abroad and written freelance for The Scotsman, New Statesman, Ecologist, Washington Times and The Skinny. I also work as a commentator and have appeared on the BBC and Swedish public radio.
I speak Swedish and German and also translate fiction from Swedish and Norwegian into English.
